Ryan is a first year PhD student, working with Dr. Mark Johnson on the economic viability of biochar to promote ecosystem services while also reducing the transport of contaminants in the environment.  In addition, communication of the science to the public is a cornerstone of this research.

Ryan has a background in applied anthropology and environmental health from The University of South Florida.  He has gained invaluable experience working at the Savannah River National Laboratory.  He hopes his research efforts will provide an integrative and creative approach to concerns regarding climate, health and the environment.
